Star Wars Episode 3 Invitational Tickets!
Woohoo! After numerous failed/wasted attempts at calling Hitz.fm to win 2 free invitiational tickets to the premiere, I finally won!
Hitz.fm would normally open their lines several times a day.. but I normally go at it at around 1pm, 9pm and 11pm. The lines would either be busy or unanswered. So a week earlier I had tried the 5.45pm slot, just after work and calling from my car. I got in in my inital try but no one picked up. I thought of giving up.... but with a redial function, I used just for the heck of it..........
"HELLO, YOU'VE REACHED HITZ DOT FM... WHO AM I SPEAKING TO?" - Jason Lo (DJ)
sounded on my hp loudspeaker. Excited and seriously oblivious to my traffic surrounding, I muttered my name and gave the answer. Oh... he can't hear! I tried again! Nope! I shouted this time with my door window wound down (didn't know why I did that!)... and he heard!
"YES! ITS OBI-WAN KENOBI! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE JUST WON 2 TICKETS TO SEE.... "
I knew I was on air and had earlier mapped out a plan to thank several people but I could bearly be heard, so heck with that. I gave my address and IC details and ta da. BUT how was I to know how to get my tickets?? Will they mail it to me or what? I later found out I just needed to show my IC that night to get them. Anxious to listen to myself on radio, all I ever got to hear was something which sounded like "obi 1" and "thank you, thank you"... even that was rather muffled. sigh........
Fast forward a week later (day of the show), I decided to get the tickets early just in case. Also needed to fetch Joyce from Klang. Planning was necessary seeing that the show was to start at 7.30 pm. I had to rush. Adding to my misery of having to suffer rush hour TO and FRO, it was also raining cats and dogs!! Thankfully I got my tickets earlier.
Finally reaching Midvalley, we arrived quite early coz there was a small reception at the Gold Class Cinemas with some local celebs walking the red carpet and costumed freaks showing off. Went in the cinema about 7-ish and noticed popcorn and coke readily placed at each seat. Apparently, the whole place was booked by different sponsors. We were in the so called "Hitzfm" theatre. Got seats 2nd from the back... not too shabby. Sat nearby Jason Lo w/wife, Ross and saw Rudy and JJ.
All in all, it was quite fun, having to sit with them, grabbing free goodies and watching the movie first b4 the rest. Movie was great notwithstanding the muted portion at one point of the movie. That was when Jason Lo shouted "Oi! DVD 9!". Funny.
